Visit Kramp Varsseveld

On Monday March 4, 2019 we have visited Kramp in Varsseveld. Here we have seen their new shuttle system of 120 shuttles in full operation. This shuttle system is the first in its kind that is installed by KNAPP. For an impression see the interview with Jan Frans Berends.

Kramp has high service standards with short order lead-times. For shipments in The Netherlands Kramp has a next day delivery promise for orders received before 18:30. This high service level and short delivery time requires fast storage and retrieval. That is where the robotic shuttles do their work, together with the order pickers for the different categories of products.

The new system contains 134 bin locations. Each bin can contain up to four different products, so in total the capacity is 536.000 positions. The whole system can be extended stepwise to 1,2 million positions.

We have visited the event with APICS professionals, members of Supply Chain Network (www.scnet.nl) and with a delegation of APICS educated professionals by our colleague Practical SCM in SCM in Israel.

Supply Chain Network is a community that is available for free for APICS members in The Netherlands and for customers (including current and previous students) of Visie Partners.

The visitors asked excellent questions as a result of analytic thinking and sharp observation. This was highly appreciated by Kramp management.
